F.A.Q.

Do you have a question that you think other owners may have and would like posted on the website?  If so please contact Owner Services to summit your question.

Space A is available to owners who participate in the rental management program. An owner can book a room during a time that it is not their owner week and pay housekeeping rates plus the reservation fee. However, you may only book 72 hours prior to your desired date of arrival. (I want to come in on a Saturday so I need to call on Wednesday.) The owner can only stay in one room for 3 nights on Space A then they must move rooms to stay an additional 3 nights. At this point the owner cannot stay on Space A for another 3 nights before he is allowed to participate again.

Unfortunately, Space A is only available to owners of the Steamboat Grand and their immediate family members, which is defined as parents and children only.

A trade for different owner weeks can be made on the owner’s website, www.primaryservices.com/steamboat. Please list the dates you are willing to give for the desired week. Also, make sure to list what type of unit you own and a way to contact you to make the trade. Once an agreement has been reached between owners, both parties must contact Owner Services to book the trades accordingly.

Most statements can be read as follows:

Because the statement lists only the net revenue, the rate may look low. But that does not indicate what the actual room rate was for that reservation.  Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation as the manager for a majority of condos at the Steamboat Grand also evaluate if an occupied unit would be better at the lower rate than a non-occupied unit.  The manager will also evaluate depending on the time of the year and number of nights they are accepted to stay.

At this time owners are allowed to leave their equipment in the storage area year-round.  We do however ask that owners make sure their equipment is well marked with their name and unit number.  This is subject to change at any time with proper notification to all owners by the Board of Directors.

Ski storage is available to owners the day the mountain opens.

All lockers are already assigned for the season. In order to get a locker, you must contact Owner Services to join a waitlist. Lockers can free up when an owner does not pay his locker bill, an owner no longer owns at the Steamboat Grand, or it is voluntarily given up.

Lockers are located in the Underground Parking Garage or across the street at the Slopeside Lounge. Each locker is $100/year.

Yes, owners can host a pool party at the Grand however there are some guidelines that need to be followed.  An owner must contact the Fitness Center/Spa Manager at least 72 hours prior to the event to ensure that there are no conflicts.  There must be proper adult/child ratio.  The owner must be present at all times during the event and no outside alcohol or food may be brought into the pool area.

In order to have information about your HOA dues, you have to contact Kevin Gilman, the HOA accountant. He can be reached at 970-846-8055 or Kevin@assocacctgadmin.com

The Owner’s Club and Lounge are available for owners to book for a private party. There is a $75 fee to book the Owner’s Club or Lounge for a private function.  Please contact owner services for availability.

No, owners cannot bring their own alcohol into the hotel owners’ lounge.  This is in violation of the Steamboat Grand/Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporations Liquor License.  If an owner would like to have alcohol for their event they can arrange to have a bartender with our catering staff for a cost.

Please refer to the Owner Benefits section of www.steamboatgrand.info for more information on how to request First Tracks.  First Tracks has changed for the 2007/2008-ski season for a number of reasons.  The first and main reason was the increase cost of First Tracks for the HOA.  On average during the 2006/2007-ski season the HOA was paying approximately $9.50 per person to attend First Tracks.  For the 2007/2008 ski season the cost to the HOA will be $20 per person.  The second important change to First Tracks is if an owner is scheduled to be staying at the Steamboat Grand they can request First Tracks 14 days prior to their chosen day of participation.  The Amenities committee felt it was important to allow owners that only come to Steamboat 1 week a year the ability to book First Tracks before those that could participate anytime during the year.

Après Ski is now available Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 3:30-5:30pm in the Hotel Owner’s Lounge.  Après Ski will start on December 15, 2007 and end on April 5, 2008.  The dates for Après Ski were changed for the 2007/2008-ski season to accommodate owners that are only in Steamboat the beginning of the week.

The parking garage is one of the HOA’s greatest assets.  Approximately 30% of the HOA fees go toward paying of the $6.5 million mortgage on the garage.  The HOA Board believes strongly that this asset must be protected.  The proliferation of parking passes that the previous policy permitted could not be continued.  We have recently instituted a paid parking fee for Hotel guests to maximize revenue and increase space for owners.  Despite that, the parking garage does not and never will provide enough space for hotel guests and all owners, as they would desire.  It was never designed for that purpose.  In establishing the number of passes to be issued to owners, we calculated that one pass per quarter share would provide adequate space for owners, without overloading the facility.  Since there are a number of eighth shareowners, we gave them one share as well, since we could gibe them a “half pass”.

Your owner gold card will allow you to access the owner lounge and club, the fitness center and pool, and the parking garage while you are not staying at the Steamboat Grand. It works like a room key; only it will not give you access to your condo

All calendars for the following year will be sent out in February. At that time, owners must select what weeks they wish to use for themselves or bank with RCI. If the calendar is not sent back within 30 days of receipt, there is no guarantee that the unit will be available. Owners may however check in periodically with Owner Services to see if their unit is still available to book for their use.

To bank a week with RCI owners must contact RCI at 800-338-7777.  Once you have contacted RCI you must also contact Owner Services to inform them of your banking with RCI.

There are calendars posted on the website. If you know your owned share, you can find it at www.steamboatgrand.info.  If you do not remember which share you own please contact Owner Services.

According to the Rental Management Agreement with Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation owners are responsible for the RCI housekeeping.  Other associations may charge housekeeping with the maintenance or HOA Dues however the Steamboat Grand does not.  Our housekeeping is either billed upon departure for owners that stay in their unit or billed if they chose to give a week to RCI.

The reservation fees were added by the Board of Directors to offset costs and help pay for the front desk and bell staff services used by the owners who stay at the Steamboat Grand. Owners had in the past been paying for these fees as apart of their HOA.  We have now separated the cost from the HOA dues.  These fees will be billed to owners on a quarterly basis from the Owner Services office.

Owners do not receive a discount on lift tickets. For rates, deals, or packages, please contact the ticket office located in the Gondola Square building or by visiting their link at www.steamboat.com.

Owner’s can book a room at a discounted Friends and Family rate anytime except for during a time of Holiday rates. Please call Owner Services for pricing and availability.

No, the Steamboat Grand Shuttle does not pick-up at the Denver or Hayden/Steamboat Airports.  There are two companies in Steamboat that do pick-up at the airports.  They are Alpine Taxi and Storm Mountain Express.  Alpine Taxi can be reached at 970-879-2800.  Storm Mountain Express can be reached at 970-879-1963.  Alpine Taxi does pick-up at scheduled times from the Denver Airport however it is very important to arrange your pick-up in advance.  Storm Mountain Express will pick-up for private shuttles only at the Denver Airport.

No, barbeque grills are not allowed on the balcony because of the fire hazard they may cause.  It is also a fire code violation at the Steamboat Grand to have grills on our balconies.

Owners are required to pay for housekeeping services according to the Rental Management Agreement and Short-Term Occupancy Agreement under responsibilities of owner number 4.  If an owner refuses the daily service they are still required to pay for it.

No, the city of Steamboat is smoke free along with the Steamboat Grand.  According to the city ordinance smoking is prohibited on balconies.

No, we do not issue new owner cards each year.  If you card is not working you may need to stop by the Front Desk at the Grand and they can reactivate the card for you.
